About

Redbank Karate (JKA) is a renowned sports and martial arts school located in Redbank, Australia. As an officially registered branch of the Japan Karate Association (JKA), it is dedicated to advancing the art of Shotokan Karate. The school has a long-standing history with the JKA, boasting a large group of core members who hold very senior ranks, including three Nanadans, seven Rokudans, and 21 Godans.

The goal of the experienced instructors at Redbank Karate (JKA) is to educate, motivate, guide, and inspire their students to help them achieve their personal goals. These instructors are passionate about continuous improvement in teaching and training, as they challenge themselves to be the best in the karate world. Drawing from their own successes on the international competition stage, they are able to impart their knowledge and experience onto their students.

One of the unique advantages of being affiliated with JKA is that Redbank Karate (JKA) gains access to numerous benefits. This includes permission to conduct Dan gradings, licence tests for “Instructor, Examiner, and Judge”, national and area seminars, and visits by JKA Headquarters instructors, including Ueki Shuseki Shihan, the Chief Instructor of JKA. Additionally, members of Redbank Karate (JKA) are entitled to attend the Spring and Autumn seminars held by JKA headquarters in Japan and can participate in the annual standardisation Dojo Head training. They also have the opportunity to enter trials when an Australian JKA team is selected.

The Head Instructor of Redbank Karate (JKA) Australasia, Keith Geyer, has a rich history with the JKA. He has had the privilege of training with all three Chief Instructors of the Japan Karate Association, starting with his first visit in 1974. Over the years, Keith has trained in the JKA instructors class and Nakayama Senseis private dojo in Japan. In 2000, he achieved the prestigious rank of Nanadan in Tokyo.

At Redbank Karate (JKA), students can expect a supportive and enjoyable training environment where they can develop their physical, mental, and emotional skills. Whether they are children looking to learn essential life skills or adults seeking self-defence techniques, Redbank Karate (JKA) offers a comprehensive range of classes suitable for all ages and levels of experience. With its strong ties to the JKA and highly qualified instructors, Redbank Karate (JKA) is the ideal school for those looking to immerse themselves in the art of Shotokan Karate.
