Regroupement Pour La

The “Regroupement Pour La” is a fishing association based in Pabos, Gaspsie. The name Pabos comes from the Indigenous word Pabog, meaning “calm waters. “ The association is focused on the conservation and preservation of the three rivers in the area: Petit Pabos, Grand Pabos Nord, and Grand Pabos Ouest.

These rivers, totalling 140 kilometres with 50 kilometres open to salmon fishing, flow from the high plateaus of the Gasp region into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. They are known for their crystal-clear waters and a successful history of preserving the Atlantic salmon population. The association provides 11 fishing sectors and 91 pools for anglers, with access contingent on permits and hiking trails.

In addition to Atlantic salmon, the rivers also offer sea trout weighing between 1. 4 to 2. 7 kilograms. Fishing is strictly fly-fishing only, and anglers must possess the required permits for salmon and provincial fishing licenses.

Catch and release is strongly encouraged to protect the local fish populations.

The association offers various accommodation options for anglers, including three camps: Camp Nord on Grand Pabos Nord for 6–8 people, Camp Tamarak on Petit Pabos for 6–8 people, and Camp John Jim on Petit Pabos for 2 people. Prices vary depending on the camp and number of occupants.

For those interested in participating in pre-season draws, the association organizes pre-season drawings with a registration fee of $7 per entry, payable by credit card or money order.
