About
Rothwell's Martial Arts, located in Georgetown, is Halton Hills' only Shotokan Karate Club. Led by Head Instructor Sensei Barb Rothwell and Masters Shihan Gus Paolone and Shihan Linda Weber-Paolone, the club offers a variety of karate disciplines for students of all ages and skill levels.
At Rothwell's Martial Arts, the focus is on providing small class sizes to ensure personalized instruction for each student. The club believes that people learn best when they receive almost one-on-one guidance from their instructors. This approach creates a family-friendly atmosphere where everyone can feel welcome and supported in their martial arts journey.
The club teaches traditional karate basics, kata, sparring, weapons training, and real-life self-defence techniques. Students learn the importance of strong foundations in martial arts through dedicated time spent on basics in each class. They also engage in kata exercises to practice defence and attack techniques, as well as weapons training with the Bo Staff and other traditional weapons.
Sparring is an essential aspect of training at Rothwell's Martial Arts, teaching students proper control and technique in a safe and supervised environment. Additionally, the club offers real-life self-defence training to help students react effectively in challenging situations.
Classes are available for individuals of all belt levels and ages, with a diverse schedule to accommodate different preferences. The club is located in the lower reception hall of the Masonic Temple at 12 Lindsay Court, Georgetown, providing ample parking for convenience.
Rothwell's Martial Arts also regularly hosts events and gradings for students to showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements.
