About
SABJJ | Toyama Jiu Jitsu | Adelaide, located in Glynde, South Australia, is a renowned Jujitsu school that has been serving the community since its establishment in 1999. Founded by Michael Toyama, along with a group of dedicated students, this academy was one of the first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu academies in the state. In the early days, the academy's students would frequently travel interstate and overseas to participate in Jiu Jitsu tournaments since there were no competitions held in South Australia at that time.
The SABJJ Competition Team quickly gained recognition for their remarkable success on the mats, winning numerous national and international BJJ titles. Today, Michael Toyama's Jiu Jitsu philosophy and style continue to live on at SABJJ | Toyama Jiu Jitsu, where students train and compete with the utmost dedication to honouring his legacy.
At SABJJ | Toyama Jiu Jitsu, students are privileged to learn from highly skilled instructors who follow the teachings of Michael Toyama, a 3rd Degree Black Belt. The academy's schedule includes a variety of classes catering to different skill levels and age groups. Students can participate in Gi & NoGi BJJ classes, which involve techniques, drilling, and rolling. There are also Fundamental Techniques classes that focus on establishing key principles and core techniques in BJJ. Open Mat sessions are available for students to scrimmage and engage in open rolling.
Additionally, the academy offers a Kids class where children can learn techniques, participate in drilling exercises, and enjoy BJJ-based games. This class is recommended for kids aged 7 years and above.
