The Sailing Skills Improvement Course at Courtown Sailing Club is a fantastic opportunity for those eager to take their sailing game to the next level. By the end of the program, participants will be confidently sailing solo in light winds without needing help from an instructor. It's important to have completed the Basic Skills course or have equivalent experience, and to have regular practice out on the water to be eligible for this course.
Throughout the 4 to 10-day course, participants will have the chance to use different types of sailing boats, such as dinghies, small keel boats, or catamarans. The certificate awarded at the end of the course will specify the type of boat used during training. Expect continuous evaluation of your boat handling skills as you learn how to rig and maintain sailing vessels, adjust boat settings for optimal performance in varying conditions, operate boat controls efficiently, and anchor the boat properly.
You'll also receive instruction on capsize recovery, techniques for maximizing boat speed, and fundamental sailing skills.
