Sandyford Taekwon-Do Club

Sandyford Taekwon-Do Club is a welcoming and independent martial arts club located in Gosforth, Jesmond, and Sandyford in Newcastle upon Tyne, New Zealand. With three locations, they are able to train and accommodate around 200 members. The club takes pride in combining traditional taekwon-do techniques with a contemporary and relaxed coaching style.

Sandyford Taekwon-Do Club offers classes for various age groups. Their Little Lions programme is designed for children aged 4 to 7. In this programme, children learn the basic blocks, strikes, and kicks of taekwon-do through line work and pad work. While they do not participate in contact sparring at this age, they practise the skills and values necessary for when they are older, such as courtesy, integrity, perseverance, and self-control.

For juniors aged 8 to 15, Sandyford Taekwon-Do Club provides a dynamic and fun taekwon-do programme. Students are introduced to the world's most popular martial art and are taught various forms of taekwon-do. As they progress in their training, students are encouraged to develop leadership skills, set a good example for new members, and foster a welcoming and supportive environment.

Adults aged 16 and above can also join Sandyford Taekwon-Do Club to learn and practise taekwon-do. Taekwon-do requires a high level of mental concentration, allowing participants to focus solely on the training and put aside other distractions. The club's instructors provide clear guidance and instruction, enabling adults to develop not only physical skills but also mental strength and discipline.

The coaching team at Sandyford Taekwon-Do Club consists of highly experienced and dedicated individuals. Faye, the head instructor, holds a black belt for 24 years and has a BSc in Sport & Exercise Development. The instructors, Tony and Paris, also hold black belts and have received specialised training in safeguarding children.
