About
Seend Lye Field, situated in Melksham, is more than just a cricket club; it's a hub of sports and community spirit championed by organiser John. As a registered charity under the United Kingdom Charities Act of 2011, John ensures that Seend Lye Field offers top-notch recreational facilities and opportunities for everyone in the local community.
Central to the field is the Irene Usher Memorial Pavilion, a versatile space ideal for meetings, small celebrations, and more. Meticulously maintained, it offers excellent amenities for clubs, societies, and local events.
Seend Lye Field is famous for its annual fete and hosts football and cricket matches on its well-maintained pitches. There’s also a dedicated play area for children up to 12 years old, fostering a family-friendly environment. Tennis enthusiasts will appreciate the two high-quality all-weather tennis courts in the north-west corner, managed by the Seend Tennis Club.
John and the team are committed to engaging the local community, actively seeking volunteers to support various initiatives. There’s a role for everyone, allowing individuals to contribute their skills and passion.
For convenience, Seend Lye Field has an online booking system. Anyone interested can check availability and make reservations via the customer login function. First-time users will need to register and create a user account. Detailed information on costs, terms and conditions, and booking assistance is available on the club's website.
John and the Seend Lye Field Committee keep costs affordable by maximising venue use. They request users to check for follow-on bookings and leave the venue in good condition. They also encourage Gift Aiding donations to enhance the club’s facilities further.
Safety and well-being are top priorities. Organisations serving children, young people, and vulnerable adults are urged to understand the club’s safeguarding policy to ensure compliance.
By providing diverse recreational facilities, fostering community engagement, and relying on dedicated volunteers, John and Seend Lye Field remain a cornerstone of the Melksham community.
