The SriLankan Airlines 10 km Run, hosted by Melbourne Marathon Festival, promises a thrilling race through the streets of Melbourne. Participants will pass by iconic landmarks such as Flinders Street Station, the Shrine of Remembrance, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. Whether you're a seasoned runner aiming for a new personal best or a beginner looking to conquer your first 10 km run, this event is perfect for you.
Scheduled for Sunday, October 13, 2024, the race covers a distance of 10 km, with the start time to be announced. The cut-off time for completing the race will also be revealed closer to the event date.
With a field limit of 11,000 participants, the start line will be on Batman Avenue and the finish line at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Participants of all ages are welcome, but children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
To secure a spot, the registration fee is $80, with early bird registrations eligible for a discounted price of $60. Keep in mind that the course map is subject to change for 2024, with the final version available nearer to the event.
For a chance to start immediately behind the Elite field, apply for a Preferred Start. Qualifying times since January 1, 2022, must be met to be considered. The application process opens in 2024, with only successful applicants contacted.
During the race, hydration and medical support are available at designated drink stations. Toilets will also be accessible at these points. Participants needing warm clothing can utilise the Warm Clothing service on race day, where belongings can be securely stored and collected post-race.
Top finishers in the 10 km category will be rewarded with prize money, with the first-place winner receiving $1000, second place $500, and third place $300.
