About

St Michael's Cricket Club, located at Kingholm Park in Dumfries, South West Scotland, has been serving the community since 1952. As a registered charity, the club's main objective is to promote cricket as a mass participation sport and make it accessible and enjoyable for individuals of all ages, genders, and skill levels.

The club's flagship team, the St Michael's RWS Forestry First XI, competes in the WDCU (Western District Cricket Union) Second Division. The Second XI, known as AC Guitars Kingholm, participates in the WDCU Third Division. Additionally, the club has a T20 side that competes in the Dumfries Midweek League and the John Pagan & Son Sunday XI, which plays friendly matches against local clubs.

Senior practises are held on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6. 00 pm at the Kingholm Park grounds during the cricket season. New players are welcomed and have the opportunity to compete for a spot in the main League teams, which play 100 over matches on Saturdays, or the less demanding 80 over fixtures on Sundays. The club emphasises the importance of developing young cricket players and provides ample opportunities for their progression to higher levels.

Membership subscriptions are set at 60 per year for adult players, with concessions available for students, juniors, unemployed individuals, and non-playing members. For more detailed information, please refer to the club's subscription page.

In recent years, St Michael's Cricket Club has focused on improving the facilities at the Kingholm Park ground. The club's website features an Archive section that offers insights into both recent and historical events of the club. The website also provides extras pages and encourages community engagement through their Facebook group and Twitter account.

For further inquiries about the club, interested individuals can contact club officials such as the Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, and team Captains. General enquiries can be sent to smccdumfries1952@gmail. Com.

Overall, St Michael's Cricket Club in Dumfries is a dedicated and inclusive sports club that strives to foster a love for cricket amongst individuals of all backgrounds, while continually enhancing their facilities and supporting the development of young cricketers.
