Welcome to Stocks Golf Club, located in the beautiful village of Aldbury in Tring, Hertfordshire. This 18-hole championship course is nestled in a picturesque valley and offers a stunning backdrop of outstanding natural beauty. The clubhouse is architecturally designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding countryside.
Stocks Golf Course spans over 6800 yards and boasts a superbly maintained par 73 layout. The course features large and receptive greens, which are protected by menacing rough. Membership at Stocks Golf Club is exclusive, as we are a private members club. While we do not entertain golf societies, members are welcome to bring guests to share in the enjoyment of our course.
Stocks Golf Club officially opened in 1992 as part of Stocks Country Club. In 2012, the course underwent a redesign to become an 18-hole championship course. It is a chalk downland course known for its excellent drainage, allowing for playable conditions in all weather except snow. Temporary tees and greens are unheard of at Stocks.
The course's main defence is its well-managed grass rough, which is impenetrable and home to a variety of indigenous wildflowers and ground-nesting birds, including larks. The club has gone to great lengths to rebuild all the bunkers to the highest possible specifications. There are only three water hazards on the course, including a lake, a small pond in front of the 12th green, and another hidden behind the ridge on the first fairway.
One unique feature of the course is the nine raised greens, which make it impossible to see the bottom of the flag when hitting approach shots. With generous dimensions, it is recommended that golfers take note of the pin position from the bar before playing. Practise facilities such as nets, a putting and chipping area, and a bunker are available for members. Buggies and trollies are also available for hire.
Stocks Golf Club hosts regular open competitions, including the popular Mixed Pairs Open. Members can participate in stableford and medal competitions, held on the first and third weekends of each month, as well as a monthly mid-week stableford. The club has scratch league teams for men, seniors, and ladies, who also take part in matches against various clubs.
We offer a range of membership options to suit different needs. Full membership allows unlimited play seven days a week, while 5-day membership allows play from Monday to Friday with the option to pay a green fee for weekend play. Other membership categories available include country, overseas, intermediate, and an over 75 special rate for 5-day membership for existing members after five years.
