SwimAware Bendigo, a program offered by Golden Square Pool, is hosting a local swimming event that aims to promote water safety and swimming lessons for adults. This fantastic initiative, made possible by the support of LifeSaving Victoria, Swimming Australia, and in partnership with the Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services, will be available throughout summer.
Living in Australia, being able to swim and ensuring water safety is crucial. It not only protects yourself but also your loved ones and others around you. Additionally, swimming offers numerous benefits, including increased confidence, social opportunities, and improved health. However, there are several reasons why some individuals may not have had the chance to acquire these essential skills. It could be due to their geographical origins, cultural or religious beliefs, financial limitations, or simply a lack of opportunity.
The SwimAware program includes induction sessions, which provide participants with a clear understanding of the pool environment, aquatic safety, and basic swimming strokes. Moreover, there is a strong focus on organising social events and promoting cross-cultural understanding to foster social inclusion. The ultimate goal of SwimAware at Golden Square Pool is to ensure that everyone feels confident in the water and learns how to swim.
If you're interested in finding out more about this program, joining the lessons, or even volunteering, you can easily find SwimAware Bendigo on Facebook or reach out to them via email.
