Taylor Made Dance is a vibrant and inclusive dance school located in Sevenoaks, New Zealand. With classes for children aged 2 to 18 years, our goal is to provide a fun and nurturing environment where every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
Our team of teachers are not only highly trained professionals in their respective dance styles but are also friendly and approachable individuals who are passionate about their work. At Taylor Made Dance, we offer a wide range of dance styles and classes to cater to different interests and abilities. Ballet, which forms the core of all dance techniques, helps develop control, improve posture, and strengthen the core. We follow the ISTD Classical Ballet syllabi to ensure proper training and progression. Tap dance, on the other hand, focuses on rhythm and syncopation, allowing students to explore the different sounds they can create with their feet.
Our tap classes follow the ISTD Tap Dance syllabi.
For those interested in musical theatre, our classes combine singing, dancing, and acting to develop well-rounded performers. Students will learn scenes from popular West End productions and films, and work together as a team towards end-of-term performances and our annual theatre show.
Street dance is a great class to express oneself to the latest chart music. We offer street dance classes that encompass various urban dance styles, and students will get the opportunity to learn routines and freestyle, all while having a blast dancing to the latest hits.
Modern dance is a lively and exciting style that incorporates travelling steps, high kicks, leaps, and turns. Students will not only gain strength and flexibility but also learn how to showcase their emotions and character through movement. Our modern dance classes follow the ISTD Modern Theatre Dance Branch syllabi.
Drama classes at Taylor Made Dance are designed to boost confidence and develop acting skills. Students will learn various aspects of acting, including mime, characterisation, improvisation, correct breathing, projection, and script study. At the end of each term, students will have the opportunity to showcase their skills through small performances.
We also offer breakdance classes for boys of all ages and skill levels. Students will learn various breakdance moves, from the basics like the “6 step” and “top rock” to more advanced moves like the “floor lock” and “windmill”. These classes are taught by our male teacher.
For our youngest dancers, we have Baby Ballet, which provides a perfect introduction to ballet for children between the ages of 2. 5 and 5. This fun and imaginative class incorporate technique and musicality, allowing young dancers to explore their creativity.
In addition to regular classes, we also offer mini movers, a fun, and creative dance class for children aged 3-5. This class focuses on developing coordination, motor skills, rhythm, and spatial awareness, all set to the latest chart music.
If you're looking for a unique and exciting party experience, Taylor Made Dance also offers traditional parties with a twist. Our street dance or cheerleading parties are a hit among children, where they can learn the latest dance moves and perform a routine for their parents at the end of the party. Parties also include cheer stunts, positions, and cheers, all with poms, along with games and prizes.
We understand that accessibility is important, which is why we offer a range of class times to fit busy schedules. Our timetable includes classes throughout the week and on Saturdays, ensuring there's a class that suits everyone's needs.
