Team FM Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Cork is a martial arts club located in the heart of Cork City. The club offers a range of classes including competition training, junior classes for ages 8-13, kids classes for ages 4-7, and mixed BJJ classes for all levels.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and ground fighting. It promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger opponent using leverage and proper techniques. BJJ training can be used for sport grappling tournaments and self-defence situations.
Founded in 2014 by 4th degree black belt Felipe Martins, Team FM has quickly become a powerhouse in the BJJ community, with victories in both local and international competitions. The club also boasts an MMA competition team with amateur titles and professional wins.
At Team FM Cork, everyone is welcome to train, regardless of age or skill level. The club offers a supportive and nurturing environment where members can work towards their personal goals, whether it be sport jiu-jitsu, self-defence, or fitness.
The club's classes range from basic BJJ classes focusing on fundamental techniques to competition training classes with heavy drilling and live sparring. All classes are open to members and affiliates, with a mix of Gi and NoGi sessions.
For those interested in joining Team FM, all that's needed for the first class is comfortable workout attire and water. Over time, members will be expected to purchase a Gi and BJJ belt to participate in classes.
