For the keen angler, the best time to visit is after 'the Wet' from late March to early June when the weather is perfect for camping and pleasant on the river. Ultimate Adventures will take you fishing during this time, resulting in some great catches. In the hotter weather, from late August to October, the barra stir up, providing exhilarating fishing opportunities.
Safaris depart daily from Hairy Dogs Fishing Camp, which is set up bush style on the historic Bend of the Ord, just an hour's 4WD drive from Kununurra. Visitors have the option to enjoy a full day of fishing or stay overnight for two or more days at the camp, immersing themselves in outback hospitality and scenic river views.
Nature-lovers will also be thrilled to explore the bush surrounds, abundant with birdlife, tropical wildlife, and big crocodiles. Mr. Croc is a frequent visitor to the banks near the camp, offering a perfect opportunity for keen photographers.

We run barramundi fishing on the Lower Ord River in the East Kimberley, including opportunities for great catches. We also offer fishing camp stays for visitors who want to stay on the river.
We fish after the Wet from late March to early June, and you can also plan for camping-friendly conditions in June, July and August. In hotter months, we fish from late August through to the end of October when barramundi stir up.
