Johnny Smith, the organiser of the Wellington Football Club, also known as the Axemen, thought you'd like to hear what's happening down at the club. Since starting back in 1870, the Axemen have been a big part of Wellington's rugby scene.
Johnny wants to let you know about the membership options available, especially the Honorary Membership. By becoming an Honorary Member, you get a cool Wellington Axeman beanie, discounts on club bookings, and special offers from our partnered sponsors. It's a fantastic way to show your support and be part of the Axemen family.
The club welcomes both senior and junior players. Registration for senior players for the upcoming 2024 season is now open, and Johnny encourages all Axemen to sign up and bring their best game. The club's motto is "Give 'em the AXE!" – so come ready to showcase your skills.
Junior players are also a big part of our community. With great coaches and a supportive culture, it's an awesome place for kids to learn, make friends, and have fun on the field.
Player welfare is crucial, and Johnny ensures there's a dedicated programme to support both physical fitness and mental health. The aim is to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
The club can't run without the help of sponsors, partners, trusts, and volunteers. The Axemen are hugely grateful for their continued support which keeps the club thriving.

The 2024 season looks exciting with the home and away draw recently released. The club hopes to see you all at The Graveyard to cheer on the teams. There are also sponsorship opportunities available for businesses from $1000 – a great way to support the club and get some brand exposure.
Training sessions, like boot camps and touch rugby games, are also on offer to keep everyone active and involved. Take part and enjoy the camaraderie of being part of the Axemen community.
