Welcome to the Whakatane Bowling Club, the home of lawn bowls in Whakatane. Established in 1907, our club has a rich history and is proud to offer two Tiger Turf greens for year-round bowling. With almost 100 members, our club is vibrant and active throughout the year.
We welcome bowlers of all abilities, whether you're a seasoned pro or just wanting to give it a try. Every Sunday at 1 pm, we offer a rollup session for anyone interested in experiencing the sport. Bowls are provided, so all you need to bring are flat-soled shoes.
Our club officials are dedicated to ensuring a positive experience for all members. Our patron is Rob Lyford, and the president is Kerri Haddock. Vice presidents Brent Johnson and Kathy Dempster-Rivett support the leadership team. Tracey Ashley serves as the secretary/treasurer, and Kathy Dempster-Rivett is also the club captain.
John Chelley oversees the maintenance of our greens as the green superintendent, and Paulene Vincent, John Foreman, and Kate Robbie round out the executive team.
We have a packed schedule of events throughout the year. In June, we have the Dawson Cup and the Red Shirt Day, both of which offer exciting bowling opportunities. July brings the R. S.
A. optional triples and the Tom Shaw Trophy. August features the Rusden Pairs Glad Simons event and the Aggregate #6 (Final).
Our club is proud to have various sponsors who support our endeavours. Their contributions are invaluable in maintaining and improving our facilities. In addition, we follow proper etiquette and Leslie's Laws to maintain a respectful and fair playing environment.
