White Crane Fighting Arts

Neil Johnson wants to extend a warm welcome to everyone in our sports community. Known not just as a coach, Neil is also a mentor and guide, providing personal attention and guidance to each student, helping them improve their techniques and skills.

At White Crane Fighting Arts, Neil teaches several martial arts systems with deep roots in the South Eastern area of Fuzhou in China. These include the Tiger Crane Combination Kung fu System (Hu H Shuang Xing Quan), the White Crane Soft Boxing system (Shuang Yang Bai H Rou Ruan Quan), and the Shaolin Dog Boxing Kungfu System (Shaolin DiShu Quan).

The club has a strong philosophy on promoting a healthy lifestyle and self-defence skills. While traditional martial arts are not seen as a competitive sport, the ultimate aim remains to develop the ability to defend oneself if necessary. The instructors, led by Neil, emphasise physical fitness, discipline, and mental well-being in their training.

White Crane Fighting Arts offers kung fu lessons for adults aged 12 and above. The classes are mixed and welcome individuals of all levels and abilities. Both male and female students train together, creating a supportive and inspiring environment.

The training sessions are crafted to provide the strength and conditioning needed to perform kung fu movements. These classes include a mix of physical exercises, drills, forms, and sparring techniques. Students are encouraged to set personal goals and work towards achieving them with guidance from Neil and support from fellow students.

In addition to kung fu, White Crane Fighting Arts offers Tai Chi classes. Tai Chi, a gentle and flowing martial art, focuses on balance, flexibility, and internal energy cultivation. These classes provide a more relaxed and meditative approach to martial arts training.

Neil also organises various events and activities, such as training trips to China, summer camps, and competitions. These opportunities allow students to deepen their knowledge and skills, and connect with the wider martial arts community.
