Welcome to the Women's Self Defense Centre (WSDC), an empowering initiative dedicated to training women to face tomorrow’s challenges with confidence and strength. Founded by Shri Aaditya Thackeray and Shihan Akshay Kumar, WSDC provides free self-defense training to women of all ages, ensuring they lead lives of dignity and self-respect. Nestled in the heart of Mumbai at the Andheri Sports Complex, WSDC boasts a state-of-the-art, 5000 sq ft, air-conditioned facility that is unmatched in India.
At WSDC, the focus is on practical self-defense techniques tailored for real-world scenarios. Participants learn to kick, punch, use elbows and knees, and master head butts, close-quarters combat, and defenses against knives, sticks, and guns. What sets this program apart is its emphasis on pressure points, allowing even those with little to no physical strength to effectively protect themselves. This makes the training ideal for women, children, and the elderly.
The centre thrives on a strong community spirit, welcoming participants from all walks of life and creating a supportive environment where everyone can learn and grow together. The initiative is driven by a dedicated team led by Shihan Akshay Kumar, a 6th-degree black belt, and Soshihan Mehul Vora, a seasoned martial artist with extensive experience training over 500,000 individuals. Their combined expertise ensures a high-quality training program that is both comprehensive and accessible.
