Aiki Ten Shin Sho Kai International

Aiki Ten Shin Sho Kai International is a martial arts school located in Brisbane, Australia. Established in 1988, the school focuses on traditional Japanese martial arts and the principle of Aiki, which involves blending with energy. The school offers training in both open hand techniques and weapons forms.

The primary goal of Aiki Ten Shin Sho Kai is to provide a platform for self-transformation and a new way of perceiving the world through the practise of martial arts. Unlike competitive sports, the school emphasises practical life philosophy and self-defence rather than fighting for sport. Training classes for Aiki Jutsu, open hand techniques, are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 p. m. Sword and staff classes, known as Battojutsu and Jojutsu, take place on Tuesday nights. The training location is at Rocks Riverside Park in Seventeen Mile Rocks, Brisbane.

It is important to provide prior notice if you wish to attend any weapons class, as spare equipment such as katana, bokuto, jo, and hakama need to be arranged.

New students are welcome to try their first two classes at no cost. If you decide to continue, the monthly fee for adults is $85. The cost is viewed as a commitment to the school rather than a payment for services rendered.

All instructors at Aiki Ten Shin Sho Kai are highly qualified yudansha (black belt holders) with extensive experience in teaching martial arts. They are also accredited by the Martial Arts Industry Association of Australia. The headmaster of the Brisbane Dojo is Dr. Chris Eacott, who has been training since 1986.

Other instructors include Tanwyn Eacott, a Battojutsu instructor who has been training since 2002; Katie Moore, an open hand instructor who has been training since 2005 and is also an award-winning Sumi e artist and shodo student; and Joe O'Brien, an open hand instructor who has been training since 2008.
