Welcome to CVN Kalari Chikitsa Kendram, an esteemed institution in the heart of Trivandrum, Kerala. Established in 1956 by Sri C. V. Govindan Kutty Nair Gurukkal, this center is a beacon of traditional Kalarippayat and Ayurvedic orthopaedic treatments. Continuing the legacy of Sri C. Narayanan Nair Gurukkal, CVN Kalari has been a pioneer in teaching the northern style of Kalarippayat in southern Kerala for over six decades.
The training at CVN Kalari is a journey that starts at an early age, typically around nine years old. Students are immersed in the rich traditions of Kalarippayat, beginning with the foundational Meithari exercises and advancing to Kolthari and Ankathari, where combat skills with wooden and metallic weapons are honed. Each training session is anchored in discipline, respect, and the intricate rituals that form the backbone of this ancient martial art.
CVN Kalari is not only a martial arts school but also a vibrant community dedicated to the promotion and propagation of Kalarippayat. Through national and international performances and workshops, the institution has brought the art’s dynamic spirit to audiences far and wide. The Kalari runs year-round training programs that attract both local and foreign students, fostering a global appreciation for this traditional practice.
In addition to martial arts, CVN Kalari is renowned for its Kalarichikitsa clinic, which specializes in Ayurvedic orthopaedic treatments. This holistic approach ensures that practitioners and patients alike benefit from a balanced integration of physical training and traditional healing, reinforcing the commitment to overall well-being.
Join the warm and welcoming community at CVN Kalari Chikitsa Kendram and embark on a transformative journey that blends physical prowess, disciplined training, and holistic healing, all rooted in the ancient traditions of Kerala.
