About
Killester Tae Kwon-Do Club in Dublin, Ireland, is a martial arts school dedicated to teaching the art of Taekwon-Do for self-defence and personal development. Taekwon-Do was founded by Korean General Choi Hong Hi in 1955 and focuses on the skilled application of punches, kicks, blocks, dodges, and interceptions to overcome opponents. The training methods of Taekwon-Do are scientific, combining physical and mental techniques to improve overall physical health, fitness, self-defence capabilities, reflexes, co-ordination, and more.
The club offers a Beginner Class designed to introduce students to the fundamental movements and techniques of Taekwon-Do. Students will learn blocking and attacking techniques, basic kicking techniques, self-defence techniques, stretching exercises, and aerobic conditioning routines. The class aims to improve flexibility, stamina, and co-ordination while fostering self-discipline, respect, and confidence.
Participants in the Beginner Class are encouraged to wear loose, comfortable clothing such as a tracksuit, shorts, and t-shirt, and to practise in bare feet. Jewellery should be removed before training, and bringing a water bottle and hand towel is recommended. All students are treated equally in the class, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The club is located at St Brigid's Girls National School on St. Brigid's Road in Killester, just a short distance from the Killester DART Station. Bus routes such as Howth Rd. 28, 29, 29A, and Malahide Rd.
