North East TaeKwon Do is a leading martial arts gym located in Dundalk, offering high-quality instruction in ITF style Taekwon-Do. The gym is affiliated with the Irish National Taekwon-Do Association (INTA), founded in 1991 by Grandmaster Brendan O'Toole and Master Gerry Martin. With over 40 years of experience in Taekwon-Do, the association aims to provide members with the highest quality instruction in ITF style Taekwon-Do as taught by the founder, General Choi Hong-Hi.
Led by Grandmaster Douglas and Master Martin, North East TaeKwon Do offers a range of activities including gradings, seminars, instructors classes, and competitions. The gym serves the entire membership of over 35 clubs spanning various counties in Ireland such as Dublin, Cork, Kildare, Louth, and more. The gym actively promotes ITF Taekwon-Do and encourages black belts to open new clubs, as well as welcoming existing Taekwon-Do clubs to join the ITF system.
Taekwon-Do at North East TaeKwon Do is focused on the core principles of Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit, as integrated by General Choi. Training revolves around three core fundamental movements, traditional forms (tul), sport sparring, and self-defence. The gym emphasises perfecting good form, leverage, and momentum while maintaining balance and mobility in both attack and defence.
