About
Pickie Bowling Club is a renowned Lawn and Indoor Bowls Club located in Bangor, County Down, Northern Ireland. Established in 1943, the club has a rich history spanning over 75 years. Originally intended to be located near Pickie Park, the club eventually settled in its current location on Broadway, between Ward Park and Bangor Golf Club.
The club's facilities have evolved over the years to meet the needs of its members. The original clubhouse was a Nissen hut, but in 1960/61, the present clubhouse was constructed. In late 2013/early 2014, the interior was extended and refurbished, with updated locker rooms, a new lounge, and a relocated bar. Additionally, a verandah bar was added to the exterior, providing a comfortable space for members to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Pickie Bowling Club takes pride in its family-oriented atmosphere and frequently organises family events during the summer months. The club features large screen TVs with satellite programming in both lounges, ensuring that members can catch their favourite sports events. With access to Sky and BT Sport, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
The club's spacious Function Room, equipped with adjoining kitchen facilities, is ideal for hosting a variety of events. Whether it's a birthday party, wedding reception, or corporate gathering, the Function Room can accommodate a range of needs.
In addition to lawn bowls, Pickie Bowling Club offers a boules/pentanque terrain, perfect for enjoying the warm summer evenings. The Petanque club, run by North Down Petanque Club, can be found on the club's website.
