Begun in 1980 as a modest yoga camp in Tumkur, Karnataka, SPYSS has blossomed into a sprawling organization with over 700 branches globally and a thriving community of more than 40,000 voluntary teachers. Carved by the insightful vision of Chief Convener Shri A R Ramaswamyanna, and under the spiritual guidance of Holiness late Shri RaghavendraSwamiji of Malladihalli, the samiti embodies the rich teachings of legends like late Shri Ajit Kumar and late Padmavibhushan Dr. B. K. S. Iyengar.

At the core of SPYSS’s mission is a desire to foster a better society through the tenets of Sanskara (value-based behavior), Sanghatane (unity under a bigger cause), and Seve (service to humanity).
