The founder of Stronger Longer, Dean Mawby, has a long-standing history in powerlifting and a career as a chiropractor spanning over two decades. Dean's love for strength training began in 1984 when he joined a gym at the age of fourteen. Throughout his career, he competed in powerlifting, winning national titles and setting records in the sport. He pursued his passion for helping others by obtaining a chiropractic degree and operating his own private practise for 23 years.
Dean's experience in chiropractic care and his understanding of the benefits of strength training led him to combine his two passions. In 2016, Dean and his wife, Peta, opened their first strength studio, Real Strength, in Castlemaine. The studio quickly gained recognition, with media outlets approaching them to share their story. A documentary featured on SBS The Feed showcased Dean's coaching approach and provided insights into what members can expect at Stronger Longer in Daylesford.
The gym's focus is on providing a safe and effective environment for individuals of all ages and fitness levels to improve their strength. The gym's opening hours, as of January 2023, are Monday and Thursday from 9:30am to 3:30pm, Tuesday and Friday from 9:30am to 2:30pm, and Wednesday closed.
